BIOGRAPHY

5-DSC_4474.jpg

My name is Jim Ivins, and I am a writer, performer and producer. Formerly based in Nashville, I currently work out of my hometown of Richmond, VA. Music has always been in my blood, demonstrated no better than by my cousin, Bill Leverty, guitarist for Firehouse. Firehouse has sold eight million albums worldwide and won numerous awards, including ASCAP Pop and American Music Awards. Ever since I was a kid witnessing Firehouse's initial success, I knew that I wanted to be a career musician, and have been writing, recording and performing for almost 20 years.

My primary gig is lead singer/guitarist for The Fan, and throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with some incredible people, such as Grammy Award winners John Seymour (U2, Santana), Michael Rosen (AFI, Papa Roach) and Michael Congdon (Chris Brown), Grammy nominee Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, The Killers), Interscope Records co-founder Beau Hill (Alice Cooper, RATT), Robert Venable (Kelly Clarkson, Twenty One Pilots), Anthony "Rocky" Gallo (John Legend, Carrie Underwood), Mark Santangelo (Neon Trees, The Weeknd), John Morand (GWAR, D'Angelo), Michael Zuesow (Colt Ford, Montgomery Gentry) and Ace Enders (The Early November).

In addition to such great producers and engineers, I have also collaborated in the studio with members of Florida Georgia Line, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, Relient K, CKY, Hot Action Cop, Jelly Roll, Accept, Saving Abel, The Dear Hunter, Pax217 and Tonic. I have also been invigorated doing co-writing and session work for others, and songs I have written have appeared on MTV's The Real World and Big Tips Texas, Oxygen's Best Ink, and have been used by NASCAR and FOX Sports. Additionally, I have composed and recorded music for Wal-Mart's in-store Great Value video campaign.

In 2023, my former band, The Ivins, became the first American rock band to perform in Sudan, as a part of a tour of Africa that saw us play in both Sudan and Egypt. Elsewhere in the live setting, I have been privileged to perform with artists such as Relient K, Chris Daughtry, Halestorm, Zac Maloy (The Nixons), Ryan Meyer (Highly Suspect) and Joey Morrow (Badflower), and have opened for:
